B1G Championship Game Recap

 B1G Championship Game Recap

Well, my prediction was a bit off but not even Wisconsin expected to beat the huskers 70 to 31.  The badgers surfed the momentum wave the entire game and reeked it’s benefits in a pummeling of Nebraska.  The game went downhill on the first touchdown by the badgers on their jet sweep motion combined with Martinez’s pick six credit of Kenny Bell.  The true breakdown on the jet sweep was the outside linebacker not motioning out with badger runningback Melvin Gordan.  Daimion Stafford had a chance to make a play on the defensive miscommunication but fell short and Gordan waltzed into the endzone.

The offense did it’s job at times but the turnover bug bit again and combined with the badger’s momentum there was no hope for the huskers.  Don’t fault Pelini for the loss, even though he took the blame.  Blame the defensive players for not sticking with their assignments and trying to be heroes.  I don’t like to dog on players and athletic ability can never be criticized but when players whiff and make MENTAL mistakes, they are asking for criticism.  Husker fans like to point out why a player like Justin Blatchford sees the field and the answer is because he knows his defensive assignment and wants to win not for himself but for the entire state of Nebraska.  I wish more fans could see the big picture of how the game works and not base judgements on a TV broadcast.  Bo will go over the film and make the changes needed for when the huskers square off against the Georgia Bulldogs in the Capital One Bowl.
