Thunder Collins arrested for murder
Former Husker running back Thunder Collins and Karnel Burton were arrested yesterday in Omaha for the slaying of a Los Angeles man, supposedly a drug deal gone bad. Collins is in police custody and faces murder charges.
Collins played three seasons as a Husker after signing with Nebraska in 1999 out of East Los Angeles College. His best year with the Huskers was his junior year in 2001, when he rushed for 647 yards, and is best known for the trick play with Mike Stuntz and Eric Crouch that led to 63-yard touchdown pass. He quit the team in October 2002 after being suspended four games for an undisclosed NCAA rules violation.
